Just a couple of minutes down the road from the Burke Mountain Hotel is the charming New England town of East Burke. With several great restaurants, shops, and pubs; it's a great place to spend the day. Hiking
For our outdoorsy guests, there are plenty of hiking options, ranging from longer, more challenging hikes to casual strolls through the woods. Below are some of our favorite hikes, many with great views of Lake Willoughby. - Wheeler Mountain - Mount Pisgah -Mount Hor - Mount Haystack - Bald Mountain For those looking for more casual walks, Sentinel Rock State Park has a few trails that give you all the views of the lake and surrounding mountains without the agony of actually climbing a mountain. Fun Fact: This is where we got engaged!
Lake Willoughby
Just a 20-minute drive from the Burke Hotel, Lake Willoughby is a great place to spend a summer day. Relax at either of the two beaches on the lake or go for a hike along one of the many hiking trails surrounding the lake.
Hill Farmstead Brewery
Though a bit of a drive from the venue, this is one of our favorite spots in Northeastern Vermont! People come from all over the U.S. to experience great views and a variety of delicious beers and barley wines. It's a great place to spend an afternoon.
Mountain Biking
The Northeast Kingdom, specifically the area around Burke, is widely known for its mountain biking. Whether you're an experienced rider or a true beginner, there's trails for any ability. TRAILS: - Burke Mountain: With twelve downhill and ten cross-country trails, the park (consisting of expert jump, excavated and flow trails) has something for everyone. With purchase of a trail pass, you have access to the chair lift which brings you to the top of the mountain. - Kingdom Trails: The 100+ mile trail network is directly accessible from Burke Mountain with some sections of trail intersecting with the Burke Bike Park in the summer months. Golf
For anyone interested in golfing, there are a few different courses in the area. Some local courses include: - St. Johnsbury Country Club (30 Mins from the Hotel) - Barton Country Club (35 Mins from the Hotel) - Orleans Country Club (40 Mins from the Hotel)
