How It All Started

6.21.20

H I S V E R S I O N Having set my dating profile search radius to 15 miles in Houston, I didn't know what to expect. Sarah jokingly stated that I was looking for the girl next door, but my goal was to start small and go from there. When the girl from College Station crossed my feed, I couldn't help but admire her beauty. Scanning her profile allowed me to discover that Sarah indeed had a heart of gold, rooted in family values, with sights set on one-of-a-kind love. After reading through her remark regarding the hallmarks of what makes a relationship work, I was delighted to have found someone who saw things the way I did. Then, in typical fashion, I proceeded to drop the best one-word response in my life, "Amen!" Hindsight was 20/20 then, literally and figuratively, as I probably should've expressed myself more. Still, I'm glad Sarah thought I was cute and invited me to chat because all I was hoping for was that one chance. Dating during a pandemic is challenging enough but tack on 90 miles of distance between us, and you have unique circumstances. In talking and getting to know Sarah further, I was drawn to her passion for life, family, and friends. One of my favorite initial moments was when we both found out that we had goals of visiting every MLB ballpark. My remark was met with a "Dude!" and I was hooked. Both of our families took notice of our newfound happiness, with Sarah celebrating Father's Day over in Lampasas and me in Laguna Vista. I couldn't hide my smile, as I felt like I had found my person - I even proclaimed that Sarah would give me D1 babies - c'mon, babe! Once we transitioned away from our apps and exchanged numbers, we hit the ground running and didn't stop. One of my fondest memories will always be talking on the phone with Sarah for 7 hours straight - yup! We talked about one thing after another and poured into each other, a cherished conversation with no end. This all eventually led me to pay Sarah a visit on the Fourth of July weekend - one of her favorite holidays. It was one thing talking on the phone, but another to be face-to-face, and from that moment on, I was captivated by her. Still am.

The Proposal

8.5.2021

H E R V E R S I O N Michael had something up his sleeve for months and knew one of my favorite things in life was to travel and experience the world with the ones I love. He also knows that I am a lover of quality time and adventure. My parents bought a timeshare in Maui during one of their trips to the island, so it could be a place our family could make and share memories for years to come. A true gift! We had a summer 2021 trip planned to Maui, just a few months shy of losing my father, a true lover of the beach. It was our first trip to the island as a family. Michael and my mom began planning what would become a dreamy sunset proposal on the grounds of our beachfront resort. Anyone that knows Michael, knows that he has the most intentional and kind soul. He thinks of any and all details. Michael knew that Maui was the perfect spot to propose. A dreamy location with sentimental value. We spent the earlier part of the day at the picturesque Kaanapali Bay with family. Michael knows my love of "drinky drinks," so he asked me if I wanted to partake in happy hour (wink, wink) before we went to dinner that evening. I didn't hesitate to say yes! When the time came, he guided me to the spot he would propose moments later. Before I could question the route to happy hour, I was caught off guard by a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to a native Hawaiian in traditional luau dress holding a beautiful bag with tropical flowers. I didn't even realize the bag read, "Future Mrs. Fray". When I turned around to show Michael my lovely surprise, the shock continued as he was already down on one knee. So he did the Fraykin' thing and asked me to be his wife! The location, the proposal, the ring, the people involved throughout the proposal planning....it was all perfection. Every moment shared throughout our relationship made sense and all led up to this incredibly special and surreal moment. Pop the champagne! We're about to share a last name!

Our Story

In 2020, after connecting online, nonstop messaging occurred leading up to Father's Day weekend. Michael and Sarah quickly realized that a tremendous bond was taking shape, with no idea how important their bond would be. Excitement for each other was generated with countless conversations and an eventual 90-mile meetup; what they had was real. But then, reality came crashing down - hard. Michael lost his father, William, to covid on August 6, 2020. It was a heartbreaking blow to the Fray family, but Sarah remained by his side throughout. Her care and compassion were paramount and so greatly appreciated - true love was on display. At this stage, Michael began to spend time with Sarah and her family and forged a relationship with her father, Andy. The two hit it off, sharing countless sports stories as Michael devoured the meatloaf. Paired with being invited on a family vacation, Michael felt right at home. Nothing could stop Sarah and Michael now. With time spent together in Houston and College Station, closing out the year strong, their relationship was on a roll. But then again - reality hit, and it hit hard. On January 12, 2021, Sarah lost her father, Andy, to covid. It was already so challenging losing one father, but now two? Michael stood firm in his love and support of Sarah during this trying time - devoted to each other throughout this hardship and heartbreak. With gentle hearts and simple souls, these two came so far on their own. Yet, they never turned back and never lost hope, with admiration for each other, allowing their love to grow. The love they have, leading up to the day where two become one, Mr. and Mrs. Fray.
