Bryant and Brittany met as coworkers at Wild Goats, a local diner in Kent. Within months, the two were doodling notes on each other's Styrofoam coffee cups, creating anagrams out of each other's names, and making shared playlists. On Thursday afternoons between college classes, Brittany used to stop by the restaurant for a $3 burger and a chance to flirt with Bryant sans her bowling shirt uniform. Finally, after months of starry-eyed workplace banter, Bryant asked out Brittany on a Monday night at work, the day after her 21st birthday-- November 21, 2016.
The two quickly fell in love, and their days flipped by like the pages in a book you can't put down. They traveled to D.C., California, Colorado, North Carolina, N.Y.C., Florida; moved in together, their cats Karma and Juliet becoming sisters; left the restaurant industry to pursue careers in technology and librarianship; and much more. The years were happy, and in light of a global pandemic, Brittany got to thinking...
On October 24, 2021, Brittany persuaded Bryant to go on a hike with her at the Brandywine Trail at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It was a cool, autumn morning, and Brittany video-recorded their hike under the pretense of vlogging for her YouTube channel—not technically a lie. As they veered off the trail to spend some time exploring the creek, Brittany took Bryant's hands and got down to her knees. Presenting the torn page 42 from Phantom of the Opera with the anagram Lo, U Claim Ye Wife "B?" Y/N? (Will you be my fiance?) written upon it, she asked him to marry her. After a wave of shock, Bryant replied yes, and she presented a ring and they embraced. Realizing that the proposal had been recorded, Bryant shouted, "We're getting married!"
