The year is 2018, I had just moved in with my good friend Robbie down in Oklahoma to pursue my master’s degree and coach baseball at UCO. I had no clue what to expect when I moved down there other than the fact that I knew I would be busy 24/7 trying to get my degree and live out my dream of being a baseball coach. Not really knowing anyone else besides Robbie, I jumped on the infamous Tinder app to try and meet some of the local women. People get on Tinder for all sorts of different reasons, I can’t say that I was originally on there for the best intentions, but now that I was in a new state, I was open to trying to find a relationship; or even just a friendship on the app. One evening while on the app, I came across this beautiful Latina girl named Daniela that was totally out of my league; but shooters shoot so I gave it a shot and I swiped right. To my amazement, we matched! Now I was excited, but not too excited because I had plenty of matches on the app that never went further than a 10 second conversation without any substance. So, I decided to message Daniela and take a chance. I’m not sure what I said, probably something corny trying to get her attention. To no surprise, she didn’t respond! About a week passed and I figured I’d give it one more shot and I messaged her again. This time, she decided to respond to me! Daniela and I began to hangout, at first, just as friends as she had just gotten out of a long-term relationship with someone else. She was new to Edmond, and I think like me, she just wanted a new friend to spend time with and talk to. We shared details about each other and realized that we had a lot more in common than we had thought! After about a month of us just being friends, I realized that I had zero interest in any other woman besides her. I was always excited to get a text from her and even more excited when she would ask me to hangout. So finally I decided to ask her on an official date to 3 Tequilas restaurant in Edmond. Even though we had hung out a few times, I was surprisingly nervous about the first real date because I knew this girl was totally out of my league!! From that moment on, Daniela and I spent as much time as we could together around our school and work life. I cherished the moments when we would hang out in the evenings at Robbie’s house or her brother’s house even if it was just a couple of hours around our crazy schedules. I even got Daniela to become a huge baseball fan (possibly against her will LOL) and she began to come to UCO games and support me on the field! After about a year of dating, I knew I was in love with her, and I would do anything possible to keep her with me! Fast forward 3 years, a day before her 26th birthday, I decided to propose to her in front of her whole family while we celebrated her birthday dinner. To this day, it is the best decision I have ever made. I know it can be difficult to put up with me at times because of my stubborn attitude; and being married to a coach is one of the harder jobs a woman can have. But through all the ups and downs, she has always been in my corner and there is no one else in the world that I would rather spend the rest of my life with. On July 28th, 2022 I got to marry my best friend. One year later, on the same day, we get to celebrate with our family and friends!
