Her Version: Dan and I met while attending Rollins College. He was actually one of the first people I met at Rollins. We were always friends throughout college. Dan was a swimmer and I was a lifeguard so we would always chat while he was at the pool. Although Dan was great to look at and chat with, I always thought we were just good friends. He was always so friendly to everyone, I didn't know that he had a crush on me! One day during our junior year, Dan came to the pool and said hello as normal but this time he gave me a quick, little shoulder rub. After that I was hooked! I no longer looked at him like a friend. It was a few weeks later when Dan asked me on our first date. We went to 310 on Park Ave and then walked around the path by the lake. The same path where Dan proposed :) We only were able to go on a couple more dates before I left for Europe for 6 months to study abroad. During that time we kept in contact via, "Skype Sundays." After I returned from studying abroad, I visited Dan and met his family for the first time in Pittsburgh. It was there that he asked me to be his girlfriend! We are still not exactly sure what day that was... sometime between July 15-17th, but we have been together for about 11 years since then! Even through many up and downs, including a 4 year stint of long distance, we made it! Dan is my best friend and banter buddy and I am so excited for our next chapter :) His Version: Steph was one of the first girls I met at Rollins…. Initially we met at summer orientation. Which was a weird experience to say the least. Everything Summer orientation was… actual school was the exact opposite. Luckily, on the bright side I was introduced to a cute, blond, curly headed girl named Steph. Over the years I had a crush on Steph and I think everyone except Steph knew this (she’s oblivious). Apparently my outgoing personality made her think I was flirting with everyone (never know how she got that idea) :) Regardless, lucky for us both… I’m very persistent and kept up with my efforts. Steph was also a lifeguard at the pool… aka my second home. Before and after practice I’d always find time to talk to Steph. Finally one day I came to the realization “you know what maybe she’s just not interested… oh well I’ll keep trying.” I walked into the lifeguard office and gave her a sub par shoulder rub and eventually I asked her out. Since then she’s been stuck with me and I couldn’t be happier.
