It all started with a “super like” on Tinder amid global pandemic. Susie just returned home after a hectic evacuation from Senegal where she was a Peace Corps volunteer, and Dan was living in Reston. During quarantine, looking at screens took up most of their time, and that’s where they found love on a dating app! At first, Dan was intrigued by Susie’s many trips overseas, and she admired his deep insights on life and sense of humor. Three video calls later, and the obligatory 14-day wait to make sure neither of them had Covid, they met in person in April of 2020. They strolled through the empty streets of Washington DC, watched the empty planes land at the airport nearby, and took photos of the only time the city would ever be so quiet. Covid was a time of struggles and silver linings; it caused many hardships, however it also helped forge relationships that would’ve never happened otherwise. A global pandemic was the reset that Dan and Susie needed to find each other.  In the years that followed, they became each other’s best friend and celebrated many of life’s milestones together. Between starting their respective careers in government service, buying condos, and traveling to Europe and Senegal, they have made countless memories together. They see no one else they would rather experience this life with, so four years later, Dan proposed to Susie on April 17th in a beautiful cork tree forest in Tivoli, Italy.
