Sarah and Cody met in 2013 through a mutual friend. While they shared some fun memories that year, they soon went their own ways as they started on their college adventures. Days after Sarah moved back home from Athens the two reconnected at a local bar and the rest is history.

If you know Sarah, she does not particularly enjoy the girly things in life so the morning her mom asked her to go get a manicure and pedicure her eyebrows were definitely raised. Her mom told her that her cousins were coming into town and she wanted to “put herself together” and wanted some company. Sarah agreed, but was still suspicious, and that only grew when Cody texted Sarah later that morning asking her to be ready at 5 o’clock with no other details. If you know Cody, he is not big on planning, so this was flag number two. As the two drove down highway 41 there was a nervous energy in the car, but the good kind of nervous, the butterfly kind. They soon reached McCollum Airport in Kennesaw, GA where they occasionally dine at Elevation Chophouse. To Sarah’s surprise the evening would not just involve a great a meal and nitrogen martinis, Cody had charted a helicopter to fly the two around their hometowns. Sarah now had a strong feeling that this date night was something special as she had always mentioned how she wanted to fly in a helicopter despite Cody’s immense fear of heights (…the things you do for love). As the pilot approached Kennesaw Mountain, he let them know he was turning off his headset and if his attention was needed to tap him on the shoulder… flag number 3. Moments later Cody pulled the ring out of his pocket and as tears started flowing from Sarah’s eyes Cody asked the most important question of their lives. Sarah immediately said yes as Cody placed her late grandmother’s refurbished heirloom ring on her finger. When the two landed they were met by their families at Elevation where they all enjoyed the evening celebrating the start as a new family!
