The tour is conducted by professional guides who will lead you through medieval Ravello into the actual urban fabric: a research of the vestiges and the artistic experience blended with the modern town. For the best prices, this tour should be booked through our wedding planner. Please advise Ryan or Danielle if you are interested in receiving quotes for this tour.
Pompeii and Herculaneum are the most famous and visited archaeological areas in Italy, because they were buried by the eruption of the Mons Vesuvius in 79AD. Guided tours, large group tours, and transportation are all available.
Technically you will be visiting Ravello on our wedding day, but if you have additional time, it's a beautiful town to explore on your own! Ravello is located on the top of the mountains in between Amalfi and Maiori, at 365 meters above sea level. Ravello tends to be much more relaxed and much less crowded than the other busy tourist locations in the Amalfi Coast. The main attractions of Ravello are Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone (the wedding venue) - The gardens in both hotels are beautiful and boast some of the best views in the entire Amalfi Coast.
Amalfi was one the Ancient Maritime Republics, and it is certainly worth visiting the Cathedral of Amalfi, the Arsenal Museum and the Paper Museum. We suggest coming hungry to taste the local cuisine: the limoncello, made with the Amalfi Coast IGP lemons; the lemon “scorzette;” and the typical Neapolitan dessert (sfogliatella, babà) at Pasticceria Pansa.
This internationally famous pastry shop takes its notes from the best known pastry shop in the South of Italy. While we haven't been here ourselves, we've heard that it is well worth the visit if you have a sweet tooth. Order the Delizia al Limone ("Lemon Delight") or a typical Ricotta e Pere ("Ricotta and Pear") cake!
Positano, the pearl of the Amalfi Coast, is among the most beautiful and romantic places in the world. Also known as the city of "Moda Positano" ("Moda" meaning "Fashion"), if you are visiting, you should prepare to spend some time shopping at the local stores overlooking the waterfront.
One of our absolute favorite locations in the Amalfi Coast is Sorrento. There's so much to do there - the food is delicious, the shopping is fun, and the night life is buzzing (last time we started with dinner & drinks and ended at a karaoke bar!). When we go to Sorrento, we stay at the Bellevue Serene, which we can't recommend enough!
This Emerald Cave is located between Amalfi and Praiano. It's one of the few caves in the world that is bathed in a natural emerald light. The cave is accessed via an elevator on the SS163 route, or by boat. Then, you can climb on one of the boats located at the cave for a guided tour of this natural subterranean environment.
Some of the best spots on the Amalfi Coast are hidden from plain view. It is easy to rent your own sea kayak for a few hours, and explore some beautiful and peaceful areas.
Take a walk! The Ferriere Valley, which is also known as the Valley of the Mills, is located between Ravello and Amalfi. This nature reserve trail takes you to waterfalls and has an amazing view of Amalfi from the top.
The Path of the Gods is a nature path on the Lattari mountains that runs along the entire coastline for 7 km, from Agerola to Positano, and in the fraction of Nocelle. Along this path are pine forests, caves to explore, and especially spectacular glimpses of the Amalfi Coast.
The Path of Lemons is a pleasant walk from Minori to Maiori, passing through the picturesque village of Torre. The name refers to the lush terraced gardens, cultivated with PGI Amalfi Coast lemons, the most iconic symbol of the Amalfi Coast. In the XVII century, the local historian Matteo Camera wrote that "from Minori, lemons were transported by sea to other Italian markets, together with limoncelli and bitter oranges." The path can be walked in both directions.
Capri is a truly magical place and one of the most popular destinations on the Amalfi Coast. This island sits just off of the western edge of the Amalfi Coast and can be reached via regular ferries from Amalfi. Also consider taking an organized trip to see the famous Blue Cave Grotto!
Chartering a boat for the day was one of our absolute favorite activities when we visited Italy! There is nothing quite like seeing the multi-colored houses rising against the cliffside from the water. We will be chartering a boat for all of our guests on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Please see the "Schedule" tab for more information on this. We hope you will join us!
Whether you decide to spend your day at a private beach club or on a boat, one of the very important parts of your day will be lunch. Book a table at one of the local beach restaurants listed below and show up hungry! This is the time to try it all - antipasto, pasta, secondo and dessert. Seafood is the norm and SO fresh in this region, so order things like fried totani (a local squid), anchovies, mussels and grilled fish. Ask your server what’s fresh and local. A shot of strong dark espresso and an icy sip of limoncello is the only way to end the feast. Some beach restaurants to consider: La Tonnarella Zefiro Da Teresa These can all be reached by boat from Amalfi!
In the heat of the summer, the night starts a little later in southern Italy. Typically, dinner time is at 10 p.m., which gives you plenty of time to get back from the beach and get ready for a night out. Well after midnight is when the doors of the area nightclubs open. Africana Famous Club, in Praiano, and Music on the Rocks, in Positano, are both venues built into caves next to the sea with DJ sets and occasional live music. Since this trip takes place in May, please check ahead to ensure these spots are open when you want to go!
The Amalfi Coast is known for its ceramic work and you will see no shortage of items to purchase in the local shops. If you want to take it a step further, look into taking a ceramics class! You will be shown by a master potter how to throw a basic pot on the wheel. You will then move on to painting and decorating your very own plate or tile.
Take a cooking class! Don't lie, you've always wanted to learn how to toss pizza dough.
