How We Met

03.07.14

Kyle and Lauren first met at a truly romantic location....Falcon Pub. Lauren saw Kyle and thought: I need to talk to this guy. They chatted for a bit, and while Lauren was enamored with his unexpected kindness, good looks, and intelligence, Kyle was thinking: she’s cute, but she lives in Ft. Myers; I’ll likely never see her again. A few months pass & Kyle and Lauren coincidentally ended up at the same place at the same time for a Cinco de Mayo party, and again at the beach with friends. Kyle learned Lauren was moving back to Fort Lauderdale soon. They found themselves connecting and exchanged numbers. Kyle and Lauren's beginning months of friendship were strange, and although complicated, it was clear this was going to develop into something more. Lauren knew she was moving to Orlando and tried to resist starting a new relationship, but Kyle persisted, saying that he’d be here when she’s ready. Lauren decided that this guy was definitely worth it, and so, their relationship began.

The Proposal

12.29.18

With many trips to Disney, a new home, traveling to new places, 2 cats, and 4 and a half years later, Kyle decided to make it official. They went to visit family in New York for Lauren’s 27th birthday. Kyle knew New York is one of her favorite places, so he made some plans. For Lauren’s birthday, Kyle arranged for them to stay in Manhattan and took her to eat some of her favorite food. Lauren thought: well, if this isn’t the moment for a proposal to happen, I don’t know what is. Kyle knew Lauren might think that, and planned to propose at a different time. Kyle enlisted the help of Kara, Lauren’s cousin, to help with the proposal plans. He decided on Brooklyn Bridge Park, hired a photographer, and told her that since he’s never been to the DUMBO area, he’d like to go. Lauren suspected nothing. The morning of December 29, 2019, Kyle and Lauren walked the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn Bridge Park. Lauren insisted on eating lunch at Luke’s Lobster. After lunch they walked through the park taking pictures, when Kyle made eye contact with the photographer and knew it was time. Kyle got down on one knee and said some beautiful things about how much he loved her that Lauren blacked out for due to the shock and excitement. Kyle asked Lauren to marry him, and the obvious answer was, “YES!” Watch the moments leading up to the proposal here: https://youtu.be/f-KIzxmFRGU Kyle and Lauren can’t wait to get married on their 6 year anniversary, August 15, 2020, at The Addison!
