We first met at a family camp in 2014 and neither one of us experienced butterflies or fireworks. It was a very busy week and there were 2,500 people, so we didn't even really spend any time together, except for dancing a few times together in the evenings. Within a few weeks of returning home, Ethan couldn't get Olivia off of his mind and decided that he was completely smitten. Olivia, on the other hand, became more and more determined *not* to like Ethan because everyone teased her about dancing with him more than any other guy at the camp. These long-distance feelings continued for another 2 1/2 years as we both continued to mature and pursue our different lives - Ethan, working as a mechanic and Olivia starting a photography business and traveling for weddings.
We started writing letters and exchanging occasional phone calls in December, 2016. Living in different states made getting to know each other more intentional because time spent on the phone and writing letters was limited due to work schedules, etc. In April, Olivia went down and spent 2 weeks in Georgia with the Plath family and we were finally able to go on our "first date". Over dinner and lots of conversation, Olivia finally realized what Ethan had known for several years ... we were made for each other!
Because you are all wondering, yes, Ethan gets major brownie points for completely surprising Olivia! ;) We went out for dinner and then visited a special garden in downtown, historic Thomasville where we had sat and talked on our first date. That's where Ethan got down on one knee, told Olivia he couldn't live without her and asked her to be his wife. Of course, she said yes! Since our first date, we had both known that whether we dated for a few months or for a few years, we were going to marry the other person some day ;)
We are so excited to invite you to join us as we celebrate our wedding. Thank you for investing in our lives and helping to bring us to this point of commitment. It is our prayer that God will be glorified, not only on our wedding day, but in our marriage as we begin our new lives together. October can't come soon enough!
