It all started after the fall semester of our freshman year at Marshall University. I received a friend request on Facebook from "a guy in the band", James, and I decided to accept his request because I wanted to make as many friends as I could since I didn't know many people outside of the saxophone section. On New Years day, 2016, James messaged me on facebook and we talked off and on from there. We were both preparing to go back to Huntington from winter break and decided to meet and hangout before classes began. I had never felt butterflies as strong as I did that day waiting to meet with James. We were both so nervous we barely talked! So much awkward silence! But we kept seeing each other. After a month of hanging out James took me on a walk around campus and we went to the memorial fountain. We stopped there and he asked me to be his girlfriend on February 1, 2016. The rest is history ❤
James and I lead a very 'boring' life. It's not boring to me, but many would call it that. We like to be at home and go out only once in a while. We were barely awake on New Years eve 2019, but we powered through! To wake myself up I sat up and decided I was going to jump onto James's lap so we would be ready when the clock struck midnight to share our New Years kiss! Little did I know, James had a ring box in his pocket and after our kiss, he pulled out the box, opened it up, and asked if I would marry him. Stunned, I only gasped 😂. James looked at me and said "yes?!" and I finally found the air to say "YES!" It still feels unreal but I could not be more excited to spend the rest of my life as Mrs. Mallory Adkins
