CDMX is a vibrant, colorful and metropolitan city full of love, adventure, great food and warmth! We fell in love with it our first trip and our love for it grows deeper and stronger every day!
If you are an American Citizen, you do not need a visa to enter the country. Getting through customs is very easy. American citizens can skip the line and go to the automated kiosks to scan passport. (You can ask for help from airport staff, if needed)
There are plenty of options when it comes to paying for goods and services! You can exchange dollars for pesos at the airport or use ATMs to withdraw cash all over the city. Having cash will come in handy when purchasing from street vendors. Please note: A lot of stores and places accept major debit and credit cards. We recommend checking with your bank for any international fees they might charge.
You will fly into Mexico City International Airport also known as Benito Juárez International Airport
CDMX is a very walkable city! You will find parks everywhere. Take some time and enjoy the city by walking to your destination. Also! Uber is easily accesible and very cheap! Please note: TRAFFIC IS HORRIBLE! Lol Please expect a min of 20-30 mins to arrive at your destination when taking Ubers.
Mexicans are one of the kindest people you will meet. They will make every effort to communicate with! And a lot of them are bilingual! You will be okay :)
Great question! Just like any new country. We might be used to our way of life so we will notice immediate cultural differences. As soon as you land, life will slow down. It’s okay! relax and enjoy the stay. Soon enough, we will be back to the grind. In some public bathrooms there is a fee to enter of 5-10 mex pesos ( USD 0.30-0.60 cents) CDMX is very metropolitan so you will have a lot of comforts and access just like in the USA!
This is an optional scenario. The hotel is gorgeous and full of history but, it is located in the city center so there is a lot of traffic and commotion. Our recommendation is to stay in one of the more quiet neighborhoods to have a better experience. Amanda and I will stay at the hotel for 2 nights (including the night of the wedding) and stay in Condesa for the remainder of our trip.
