Once upon a time - a long long long time ago (let's say 2006), Eduardo and his study abroad roommate, Patrick, decided to continue their "roommateship" post-graduation in Chicago. Around that same time, Patrick's cousin, Sharris, was preparing to move to Chicago so she was spending a loooot of weekends in the city. This was back when Wicker Park was still naturally cool and wasn't totally taken over by hipsters. One Saturday night, Patrick invited everyone out to Rodan, a fave spot on Milwaukee Ave, to hang out and introduce his new girlfriend (now wife!), Briana to Sharris. As luck would have it, Eduardo and Sharris just happened to really get along and enjoy each other's company and a friendship formed...and maybe some secret crushes. Fast forward a few years later and even after Patrick had moved away from Chicago and they were both dating other people, Sharris and Eduardo were still hanging out; texting each other to grab drinks and sending each other new music suggestions. Then, Sharris' 90's themed 28th birthday party came - Eduardo showed up looking like a Nirvana wannabe and thought that Sharris, dressed as the silent member of Salt 'N Pepa -complete with a neon windbreaker and doorknocker earrings- somehow looked like an angel under the strobe lights at Beauty Bar. A kiss under those lights sealed the deal that they weren't just friends anymore...and after 6 inseparable years later, 414 screenshots of dream engagement rings in Eduardo's inbox and 2 days before their "Labor Day Countdown," Sharris ruined the surprise that was coming later by opening the freezer and seeing the champagne bottle that Eduardo had tucked away for later. Before she could turn around, he was down on one knee - popping the question right there in their kitchen...and, of course, she said "DUH!"
