Located slightly south of Downtown Asheville, the South Slope area offers a myriad of dining and drinking opportunities. South Slope is known for having many breweries all located within walking distances from each other. Some of our favorite stops include: Catawba Brewing, Burial Beer Company, Twin Leaf Brewing, Funkatorium (for sour/funky beer lovers), Greenman Brewery, Hi-Wire Brewery, Ben's Tune-Up (if you would like some fresh brewed sake), and Bhramari Brewing.
Whether you want to hike or just take a picnic to a scenic overlook, the BRP is the place for gorgeous mountain views. Craggy Gardens, Graveyard Fields, Black Balsam Knob, and Sam's Knob are some of our favorites. Be warned, the parkway can get a little busy on holiday weekends!
Although tickets can be pricey, there is truly no place like the Biltmore Estate. You can tour the home, walk through the gardens, visit the winery, and eat at one of the restaurants in Antler Village.
Pisgah is another amazing place for hiking. Some of our favorite hikes in Pisgah are John Rock Trail Loop, Daniel Ridge Loop (where we got engaged), and Pink Beds Loop. If you are more interested in swimming, then there are plenty of swimming holes and streams to jump into. If you're willing to brave the chilly waters and potential crowds, you might be interested in checking out Sliding Rock. After a long day in Pisgah, we like to head over to Oskar Blues Brewery and enjoy some beers and burgers from their food truck, CHUB Wagon.
Take a look at Asheville's art scene! If you need a drink break while you're meandering through galleries, check out Wedge Brewing Company, Wedge at Foundation, New Belgium Brewing, or Pleb Urban Winery. For a bite to eat check out 12 Bones Smokehouse, Melt Your Heart, or White Duck Taco Shop.
There are so many things to do, eat, and drink in Downtown Asheville! We recommend just walking through the streets to see what takes your fancy. However, if you need a little more direction, here are some great options: LaZoom Tours, Asheville Pinball Museum, the Grove Arcade, Lexington Glassworks, Amazing Pubcycle, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, and of course the Asheville Drum Circle.
Located right outside of the gate of the Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Village offers an array of places to shop and eat. Some of our favorites include: The Corner Kitchen, Hillman Beer, Catawba Brewing, New Morning Gallery, and The Gardener's Cottage.
