Sean and Erin met while studying abroad in Cork, Ireland in the Fall of 2016. Sean has a habit of feeling like death immediately after the flights into Ireland, something thankfully Erin does not share. So their amazing first meeting consisted of a sick Sean making tea in his kitchen and Erin and their friend Kate coming into the apartment excitedly talking about their first folklore class meet up. The interaction that followed surely was the best first impression one can ever give as Sean proceeded to respond to Kate's attempt to introduce them with a grunt, a shuffle past them back to his room, and then shutting the door for good measure. Somehow someway Erin was able to look past that rough first encounter and the two quickly found they enjoyed each other's company while in Ireland together and even decided to do a trial by fire of their new relationship by traveling together. To Switzerland where Sean got to share one of his favorite places, Lake Lucerne, with Erin. To Amsterdam where she was fully introduced to hangry Sean and somehow still did not run away. Then to London with the layover from hell where they flew in to Luton airport, walked through London's downtown financial district at midnight, and then spent the night sleeping on the floor at Camp Stansted (a lovely little nickname for Stansted airport where that kind of thing seems waaaaay to common). Erin and Sean are incredibly excited to continue their journey together at the place it all started Cork College, where they will be completing the Trifecta! X The Meet Up! X The Engagement! The Marriage!

During December 2022 on a trip to Ireland Sean surprised Erin while walking on University College Cork’s campus and proposed in front of the quad with her family there to witness. Somehow still a surprise even after she had picked out the ring she wanted over a year before!

Weirdly enough even when we started dating there were not many instances of 1 on 1 dates since we spent a lot of our time with some of our other study abroad friends. The first real date likely being for her birthday where we went to a Gastro Pub and had some really good burgers, and more importantly had some fries how Erin likes them (Well done!).

Day and weekend trips of all kinds to try out new things is our go to. Whether it’s a place we have never been to, an experience we have never done, we always like trying something new together since even when it doesn't turn out great we still have fun with it anyway.

Seeing as how Sean's fandoms are mostly from California and the Boston areas and Erin is a New Jersey native there was never a lot of alignment here. But while Sean was in Hartford for a couple of years, they loved going to Wolfpack games which happen to be the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers which Erin and her family are diehard fans of. Sean's favorite player ended up being the goalie Igor Shesterkin who now dominates in the net for the Rangers and they both enjoy cheering him on whenever they are able to make a game!
