We are getting married in Aruba! We will be sharing our “I do’s’” in paradise, with our closest family and friends at a destination wedding! While we wish everyone could be there with us, we know that just isn’t feasible, so we are having a huge after party, and we want you there! We will stay and enjoy our “honeymoon” and island time to ourselves for two weeks in paradise, enjoying our new chapter in life! And then we come home and celebrate with all of you! This is going to be a super casual event, come as you are, wear what you wish! Bring an empty stomach and some dancing shoes!
Brett and I met online, and Brett had given me his number after a day or two of chatting on bumble! I took a week to text him, and we immediately hit it off! We spent all day and all night talking like teenagers! The first day we really talked on the phone and got to know each other, he was so kind and caring, I thought wow, is he too good to be true? I was so impressed, that the next morning, my best friend Amber, was driving me to an appointment and I said “I don’t know, it really feels different this time, I could talk to him endlessly! His name is Brett!” Thinking nothing more of it, I got home later and we chatted even more, and discovered that we went to school together, and he is Amber’s cousin Brett! A beard and puberty changed a lot since high school! Haha! I immediately called Amber, and said “that Brett, it’s your cousin Brett!”. We laughed, she gave him the highest of praises, and the rest is history. I guess when you know, you know!
Brett and I had been talking about rings, I designed a few online, and really liked a certain style, and we decided we’d go to the mall and see if I actually would like how it looked on my finger. We walked into the first store, I described what I wanted to her, and she pulled out my ring and said “so you want this?!” I walked to another store and Brett checked out. This meant I was on “have your nails done” duty! I was waiting, so IMPATIENTLY! My sisters reached out about going to brunch in Skaneateles for new years, Brett had signed up to work that morning for holiday pay, so I said sure! They advised me we’d be going to elephant and the dove and to look cute so we can take sister pictures together! Brett woke me up at 6:15am that morning to say goodbye, and left for work. Sent me a picture from the work parking lot complaining about having to work, and I thought “it’s definitely not happening today”. Kaleigh was picking me up, she advised me to be ready early at 10 so we could go take pictures, and have time to pick up Kira. I was annoyed, the food place didn’t even open until 11:30.. what was the rush. Kaleigh got mad and advised me I couldn’t wear leggings (thanks Kaleigh!) as we were “looking cute”. So annoyed, I changed. We picked up Kira, and parked way back in a far parking lot, and annoyed, I said “it’s 10:30, there has to be street parking”. Needless to say, Kaleigh and Kira had enough of my “being annoyed”. We walked over to the gazebo, look out at the water, and around comes Brett, smiling away. And down come my parents from their street parking (hence the far away lot). Tears of joy and shock were shed, and I’m grateful he pulled it off as a surprise, my sisters were the best crew for it!
