So you may have heard we're doing this whole wedding thing a little unconventionally. While we love our families and friends SO much and still want to celebrate with all of you, we really want this ceremony to be incredibly personal and meaningful. We will be eloping (just the two of us!) on the Big Island of Hawaii on May 16th, 2022. We will be hiking to our ceremony destination with our photographer and officiant, sharing our personal vows and spending the rest of the day exploring and enjoying the beauty of the island! We are so excited to be present with one another on our wedding day and are looking forward to spending a very special time there making new special memories.
Erik and I met while working at our first jobs – Bill Miller BBQ. 16 and 19 in 2014, Erik and I were running around a hot kitchen covered in brisket grease and chicken crumbs. It was definitely not love at first sight. Erik, a more reserved, guy’s guy, whose focus had only ever been on football, was not sure about me, a loud and not afraid to embarrass herself girl who was “still in high school”. And by the time he was sure about me, I had already decided he lost his chance. Mama always said to never chase a man! Not too long after beginning to work together, Erik moved to the city to attend college at UTSA with his “boys”, while I was finishing up my junior and senior year. Although we kept in contact throughout that time, it wasn’t until we bumped into each other one night at Cowboys Dancehall that we began “talking” again. That night Erik begged me for a dance, literally begged. Not an exaggeration, you can ask him – it’s one of my favorite things about him. His persistence. He doesn’t stop until he gets what he wants. So we danced that night, and now you can find us dancing together in the kitchen of our home we’ve lived together in for more than 2 years.
