Getting There

Rethimno is located between Chania and Heraklion which are two of the larger cities in Crete, both with airports. Both are located about an hour away from Rethimno, so they are great options to fly in and out of. There are flight options from Athens, however we have found there are more cost effective options if you connect through larger cities like London or Paris. Chania is more romantic and has better beaches than Heraklion, though Heraklion might have the edge for historical attractions and dining options. Heraklion is more of a city than Chania so there will be more amenities available there. We will be flying out of Los Angeles on Thursday, July 4, 2024. We will share our final flight info once it is confirmed.

Travel Note

Getting Around

Uber/Lyft is not available on the island of Crete. The best option will likely be to take a taxi upon arrival in Chania or Heraklion to Rethimno. Once in Rethimno the small quaint beach town is mostly walkable. If you’re planning to take advantage of the free times in our event calendar you can also rent a car. Group transportation will be provided for some of the activities (example to/from hiking locations) which is why we would appreciate early RSVPs so we can plan shuttles accordingly.

Hotel

Where to Stay

We will be staying at an Airbnb in Rethimno. There are a number of Airbnbs and boutique hotels available in town. We are currently speaking with a couple hotels in order to secure friend/family discounts. If you are interested in a room block, please reach out to us as soon as possible. Staying in Chania or Heraklion is an option as well if that is something you want to explore. Please keep in mind that most of the activities will be leaving and returning from Rethimno.
