Two chemical engineering students walk into a bar…. Just kidding - Emma and Eric met in their Heat & Mass Transfer laboratory classroom (~nerds~). They were paired up as lab partners for their first project of the semester. After the first lab, Eric secured Emma’s phone number and the rest is history. To everyone’s surprise, Emma talked Eric’s ear off on the first date at Greyhouse Coffee. From there, it was a fast track to meeting each other’s families since COVID forced students home for the remainder of the semester. We finished off our college years together, walking to class each day and eventually, sitting side by side at our graduation ceremony. We kick started our careers in different states, Eric in Illinois and Emma in Michigan. After being long distance for almost a year, traveling together, and eventually moving in together - it was clear that life was simply better together.
Traveling has become a true passion for both Eric and I throughout our relationship. Experiencing a new place and trying different foods, activities, and events is something we both LOVE to do, especially together. So, after college we made a pact to make time and save up for one trip each year to someplace new. The first trip was to Colorado Springs in November of 2021. And literally, on the plane ride home, we were already planning the next one! In September of 2022, Eric and I went to Boston for our annual trip. Just before we left, Eric offered to pay for my manicure and I - blissfully unaware - declined his kind gesture. After a series of very obvious signs that Eric was going to propose (all of which I missed entirely), we ended up on the Charles River Esplanade - a beautiful park overlooking the vibrant Boston city skyline. We walked alongside the river and after finding a bench underneath a serene willow tree, Eric popped the big question! After FaceTiming friends and family with the exciting news, we celebrated our engagement throughout the rest of our trip. Needless to say, Boston holds a very special place in our hearts.
