It was July 9, 2020 when the stars aligned for Diana & Eric to be matched on Hinge. It was the height of Covid, hockey season got cut short, and they were both bored swiping away. Eric led with " Would you rather...have hockey back August 1st but the Rangers win the cup this year ...or have this season and all of next season scrapped? " In which Diana proceeded to disappoint him in answering it with the seasons beings scrapped. This prompted an entire conversation that entailed favorite players, rivalries, love for their teams, their big Italian families, music teachers, Chinese food, siblings, and their covid comfortabilities. Unfortunately, shortly after they lost touch. However, there was one saving grace. They added each other on Instagram! Each year Eric's family goes on a boat trip and this particular August day, he posted a picture of a yacht on his Instagram story. This small action prompted Diana to message him again. The rest of their love story developed from there. When Eric returned home from his trip, they set up a Facetime date in which they talked for over four hours. They set up an in person date for August 17th where they met at Cedar Beach in Babylon, NY. They decided to have a picnic because everything was closed. Eric brought Kona beers while Diana brought charcuterie cheeses and meats. You could picture them laying on the blanket watching the stars and finding constellations with their apps. While this may seem romantic, trust me it was, they quickly realized it was about to down pour. They quickly carried everything back to the cars and had to find a new place to hang out. There was just one problem... Diana was driving her moms small volkswagon bug with eyelashes. As she tried to drive through Babylon, the flash flooding prevented them from going down certain streets. She pulled into the Carriage House parking lot in which they spent the next few hours just talking as if they'd known each other forever. Diana and Eric continued to date for the next few months, meeting no friends or extended family due to Covid. It was just the two of them. On November 21st, Eric asked Diana to be his girlfriend. The relationship blossomed from single dates to being together many years. They have experienced a pandemic, traveling to many countries, meeting new friends and family, new jobs, a new home, and many hockey games! On April 24, 2024 while traveling, Eric proposed to Diana at the Cliffs of Moher, Ireland. They are planned to get married on February 1, 2025.
