COVID-19 Protocols

Our reception venue, Canfield Casino, is conducting all events in accordance with the rules, guidelines, procedures, and policies set by the CDC and State of New York and it is solely our responsibility to implement and enforce those policies. Currently, the CDC states, for indoor venues of our size, “…fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear masks and be socially distanced.” After all this time, we want the night to be as safe, intimate, loud, and celebratory as possible. Therefore, for attendance, we ask that all our guests be fully vaccinated come December. Please submit your vaccination attestation through the link you received by email by November 25, 2021 (Thanksgiving Day). We obviously wish that COVID was not still top of mind, but the health and safety of all our guests is of the utmost importance to us. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these difficult (and stressful!) times. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us by email or by phone. All our love, Erica & Stephen

How We Met

Erica and Stephen met through a very dear friend (and Bridesmaid) Catherine Rossi on the Upper West Side in the summer of 2015. Catherine had come to visit a friend from Elon University and invited Erica to meet up with them - never imagining what that invite would turn into! Erica dragged along her friend Maeve so she would have a buddy and when they walked into the apartment, Stephen was right there to greet them. That led to a night full of chatting at Jake's Dilemma on the Upper West Side. While it took a little while for Stephen to drum up the courage to ask Erica on their first date after that meeting, once it happened neither of them looked back! Amazingly enough, Erica had visited Catherine all four years at Elon University but never met Stephen. A true story of timing is everything.

The Proposal

On July 19, 2019 (Erica's parents 33rd wedding anniversary!), Stephen & Erica took NJ transit down the Shore which had become fairly routine for them on summer Friday's. Stephen had made plans the next night for dinner at a restaurant in Brielle that they had a gift card to - telling Erica it would the perfect time to use it. After spending as many hours as they could on the beach during the hottest day of the summer, Erica & Stephen got ready and went to grab a drink at one of the beach bars ahead of dinner. Stephen had sneakily introduced on Memorial Day Weekend the concept of parking a little further away and enjoying a nice walk down the beach to the bar along the boardwalk, so when Stephen suggested it this time Erica just assumed this was their new thing. Stephen suggested walking on the sand and although Erica obliged she made it only 98% of the way to the "spot" before asking to go back on the Boardwalk because it was so hot. After spotting a special someone, Stephen agreed we could go up but first he had something to say! Stephen popped the question and many tears, hugs, and cheers from onlookers ensued. Erica then looked up to see dear friend Mr. Scotto capturing it all on camera. Stephen soon broke the news to Erica that there was in fact no dinner reservation and they were going to celebrate back at the house with his family. After a few failed FaceTimes to her mom, Erica walked in the house to see that not only had Stephen surprised her with her parents & brother, but also their 3 Grandmas (two of which had traveled from out of state) to celebrate the occasion! It was absolutely the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of spending our lives together.
