Question

What is the weather like in October?

Answer

October is a warm month in the Dominican Republic, but it is also considered part of the rainy season, which means higher humidity and an increased chance of rainfall. However, it's worth noting that the rain showers are usually short-lived. Therefore, it's advisable to pack accordingly for any weather conditions. Although the peak of the hurricane season in the Caribbean is typically in August and September, there is still a slight risk of tropical storms in October.

Currency for the Dominican Republic

The official currency of the DR is the Dominican Peso (DOP or RD$). It is recommended to exchange currency at the airport when you arrive, at official exchange offices, banks, or ATMs. While major credit cards are widely accepted, it is always convenient to have some local currency on hand for smaller transactions. If you plan to use your card, make sure to inform your bank of your travel plans to ensure seamless card usage during your stay.
