Our Story

5/27/17

We met at a wedding-the last place either of us expected to find each other. I was a bridesmaid fresh out of college, ready to start a new chapter in Charlottesville, VA. Matt was a groomsman living in Rock Hill, SC finishing school. We met early in the day for a brief moment. I was convinced Matt wanted absolutely nothing to do with me, meanwhile, he was convinced I was much older and "out of his league". After the ceremony when the celebrating began, we found an instant connection on the dance floor. The moment Matt used his dance moves to clean up a spill on the floor, I knew he was the one. We spent a year traveling back and forth between states every weekend and by that point we both knew we had found our person. After a year, Matt asked me to make the move to South Carolina and the rest is history...

The Proposal

7/7/19

After months of planning and patience the day finally came. I had asked Maddie's mom, brother, and step dad for their blessing in November and had been planning the when, where, and how ever since. Also during this time I had hand selected and designed the perfect ring for Maddie. I chose the Outer Banks for the where because it was a place that was special to both of us and we both share a love for the ocean. I chose the when to be on our big family beach vacation where I had taken Maddie two years prior-weeks after we started dating. The how was easy. I knew it needed to be in the sand on the beach, just the two of us sharing a moment together with a beautiful view. I proceeded to tell Maddie how much I love her and then fired off the rest of my speech that I had been practicing repeatedly. I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She said yes! And then I pointed out the photographer who had been hidden the whole time, capturing every moment. After we took photos, we walked back to the house to be greeted by cheers from the whole family who had been standing on chairs on the porch in an attempt to not miss a thing. We then took pictures with my family and as we were finishing, I surprised her with her mom, step dad, and brother walking in. We are so excited to celebrate the next chapter of our lives with you! See you in Charleston!
