How we met

All the magic began with a "swipe"

Like all good modern love stories, we met on a little dating app called Tinder. We both can't remember if we personally "swiped" on the other, but that didn't stop the sparks. We both started talking about how hard it is do on-line dating and then Matthew just abruptly stopped responding. Rachel thought, "oh well, another one bites the dust". Little did she know, his dog got away from him and he was searching for her for 3 hours. Matthew was about to call it quits on searching for the dog but when he got home, the dog was waiting for him on the deck and he immediately texted Rachel back.

First date

Barnes to Barn

Matthew was excited and wanted to show off. Matthew asked Rachel on their first date and wanted to take her to the Lady Antebellum Concert at Pine Knob. Rachel was watching too many Lifetime movies. Rachel was nervous about getting murdered so she suggested Barnes and Noble. Fun fact: Rachel was in the murder mystery section when they first met. Matthew was only somewhat concerned over this. Things ended up going well and Rachel didn't want it to end so she decided to continue it by saying, "you can feed me now." Matthew then took Rachel to Fall Fest in Downtown Plymouth. Over the smell of corn dogs, Matthew kept trying to hold Rachel's hand but she was oblivious and focused on eating. They ate at Ironwood Grille and Matthew ordered a salad. Rachel suggested nachos and pizza. Rachel is sure this is where he started falling for her. They stayed until the restaurant was closing down: bonding over music and politics, as one does on a first date. And the rest is history. It all started at a Barnes and we will be starting this next chapter at a Barn as well.

How did he propose?

Ocean Prime time for an engagement

It was a couple days before Valentine's Day. And like with any good romantic story, they got their hands on a coupon. They got really good coupons for a fancy restaurant called Ocean Prime that specially said you couldn't use the coupon on Valentine's Day. Rachel made reservations for a couple days before Valentines Day so they could celebrate Valentines Day early and use the coupons., because who doesn't like a bargain? Little did Rachel know, Matthew was planning on proposing and talked with management at Ocean Prime already. There should also be a note that they just so happened to be talking about engagement rings the day before and Rachel, who never made any comments about rings before this point, says "I would like anything you get me except a square ring". Matthew went so white and quiet at this point that Rachel thought he had a kidney stone. If you don't know, the ring is in fact square and was already purchased and made from scratch with Grandma Roses diamonds. Whoops. Rachel was wrong because she loves the ring by the way. Flash forward to that day and Matthew wouldn't watch a rom-com with Rachel and told Rachel to not call her Mom before dinner. (Who knew this was happening so Matthew was worried she would slip and say something) Rachel immediately texted her friend Jen, who will be officiating their wedding. Jen said "Is he acting weird or are you getting engaged?" Matthew and Rachel get to the restaurant and Rachel texts Jen back, "I don't think so." Matthew went to the bathroom and Rachel was about to eat his breadstick when he returned and got down on one knee. Rachel thought he was trying to get in on her side of the booth. But he was just trying to propose and was telling her the sweetest things she has ever heard in her life. She said okay a lot and only knows this because a hostess took a video. Next thing she knew people were cheering and there were flowers, champagne and sushi on the table. Matthew started eating and Rachel started sweating from all the attention and asked Matthew if she said yes. She did.
