We met while doing the spring musical Bye Bye Birdie my Sophomore year and his Freshmen year of high school. He made me laugh from the first moment. I remember leaving everyone of those rehearsals with a new inside joke that probably wasn't funny at all to anyone else, but our group was always cracking up. Throughout all of our high school years, we never dated, but we were inseparable. I will always say that this friendship based on laughter is the reason why we work so well together to this day.
When Cole moved away to work in the Disney College Program, and when I moved into my first college dorm, we didn't know what would happen with our friendship. Obviously it worked out fine, and the distance between us only made us realize all of the moments we were missing by staying just friends. Of course it took a lot of cryptic messaging before we were able to admit how we felt about each other, but once we did it was like we had known this since the moment we met.
Our proposal story had some road blocks and changes along the way, where Cole was thinking I was getting cold feet, but the reality was I just shouldn't have walked 5 miles and then eaten a foot long hot dog piled high with toppings, but the end result will always be my most favorite memory. Disneyland in California truly is the most magical place on earth, and now we have the most precious memory there! (Cole also made the great choice of getting down on one knee at the very beginning of the day, so I couldn't complain the whole rest of the day!)
