Tips for crossing the boarder

For those traveling into Mexico, the location of the wedding is just about 45 minutes South of the California border. The best way to get here is to fly into San Diego, get a rental car with insurance to cross into Mexico, and drive over the border. We have posted links for the best hotels, rental cars, Google Maps addresses for crossing the border, ect. We know that crossing an international border can be intimidating, but it is a very simple process. Tips for crossing the border: - Driving into Mexico from San Diego, you just drive right through, follow the crowd. You will most likely not be stopped, but if you are, just tell them you are going to a wedding and how long you will be there, they should let you right through. - The more calm you seem while driving through, the less likely they will be to stop you. - They won’t check your passport or anything, you just cross pretty quickly! - When driving from Mexico to San Diego, keep in mind that it is the busiest border in the world, so the line to cross can be up to 4 or 5 hours long. Most of the time it is 1-2 hours, but be conscious of that when planning when to leave to catch your flight. - You will need to have your passport or enhanced ID with you so they can check it before they let you cross. They will ask you where your are going, just tell them that you are headed to the airport. They will also ask why you were in Tijuana, you can just say that you went to a wedding. They should let you through after that, but if not, they will just ask you more questions, just answer honestly and they will let you through. It seems intimidating but I promise it is not that bad!

Tips for Tijuana/Rosarito

We know the reputation that Tijuana has is not great, but it is not all what you have heard. Where you will be staying and the location of the wedding is in a city called Rosarito where you will be safe. It is a fun city with lots of fun things to do, but if you feel more comfortable, you can stay in San Diego and just cross the border the day of the wedding. Tips for being in Tijuana/Rosarito: - Always have cash/smaller bills on hand. Although you can use your card here, a lot of places only accept cash. You can use US dollars here. - Be very cautious/aware while driving! Driving here is a lot different so just be very aware of dogs, potholes, and other drivers. - Google Maps works down here, so you can use it to get around town. - Calimax and Walmart are good stores down here if you want to buy groceries, Oxxo is like 7/11 for snacks and stuff like that. Please let us know if you have any more questions!
