Our COVID-19 Wedding

July 18, 2020

As most of you know, when COVID-19 began, we were knee-deep in planning a big wedding in New York set for March 2021. Like many other couples, the extent and ongoing uncertainty of this pandemic changed our outlook quite a bit. We decided, about a month before, to get married while we spent the summer (now probably the fall, and maybe the winter - who knows!) in Colorado. It was a small ceremony and event, but a magical day - we could not have anticipated how wonderful it would be! That being said, aside from being married, what we have been looking forward to the most is celebrating with all of you, in person, with good food & drinks, dancing, and of course, cake. We are hoping this can happen at a later time in 2021 and that you all can join us then. In the meantime, we want to thank you all for the outpouring of love and support we've received through phone calls, text messages, social media, and carrier pigeon on the heels of our celebration! We can't wait to see all of you and celebrate together sometime (hopefully) soon! Love, Mary Beth & Emma

How We Met

March 13, 2018

On March 13, 2018, the New York Knicks had their very first Pride Night! Emma got tickets with her friends and thought nothing when one of them mentioned they were bringing another friend along. In a dingy dive bar (not ideal for MB), near Madison Square Garden, the group gathered for pre-game Happy Hour, where Mary Beth met the group and Emma for the first time. Fast forward to the game, where Mary Beth and Emma started talking over the lap of another friend, and kept talking for the entirety of the game. Mary Beth bought Emma a hot dog (which she still has not been paid back for, by the way), and they bonded over their shared love of stadium cuisine and the Real Housewives. Emma wanted to ask Mary Beth for her number, but she thought MB was at the game on a date (she wasn't)! Later that week, Emma saw Mary Beth on a dating site, and sent her a very nerdy message, the contents of which will not be shared at this time. They began texting, in Real Housewife memes and funny day-to-day happenings, and arranged a first date. Before they could meet up for the first time, Mary Beth was invited to a surprise party Emma was throwing for another friend. Mary Beth watched Emma sing karaoke to Salt & Pepa's "Shoop," and somehow still found her attractive! They talked until 2 am in another dingy dive bar, and the rest is history.
