Ian and I met in middle school, we didn't really talk, or hang out, but we knew each others existence. Time flew by and I was seeing him in the hallway during sophomore year. I always wanted to say something, but I didn't know what to say. We went to a class during lunch called "Math Help", but we never had any math. We would sit there, talk, and laugh. It was always my favorite part of the day. When junior year came around, we were on separate paths. I never really saw him in the hallway anymore, or in the Math Help class we would always go to. One day, I was having one of the worst heartbreaks of my life. Ian texted me and said "Why are you upset?", and I told him the whole story like no time has passed for us. Ian offered to take me to dinner at Swenson's. I was hesitant because I was upset, and not really feeling like eating. The next thing I knew, I was saying "Let's go". Ian picked me up, and didn't say much at first. We got to talking, laughing, and listening to music, and it felt like old times. After, he dropped me off back at home he asked me what my favorite candy was, so I told him, and he drove away. The only thing I didn't know about that one time, is he really wanted to give me a hug. A few weeks later, I opened my mail box. I saw my favorite candy with a note. I knew it was Ian, which I was more excited about than the candy. Senior year was our best year yet. I had no intentions of dating anyone, because I was going to college. Ian and I started going to lunch everyday with our friends. He would always sit in the back, while I was driving, and secretly hoping he would move to the front. In April, something just clicked. I was in the car with my best friend, Gracie. Ian got out of the car and I thought all of the windows were up. I started telling Gracie, how much I liked him, adored him, and wanted to have a relationship with him. Ian heard the whole thing, but he walked away. Later, I realized what I was missing out on. This was my best friend, who always made me laugh, smile, feel pretty, and treat me how I've always wanted to be treated. I told Ian how I felt, and he told me he felt the same way. After that, everything felt like it had fallen into place. As time went on, we grew up. We were never happier. We spent every day together, did our homework together, played video games, all of it. I felt like I was exactly where I needed to be. We decided to go to Columbus State together, which was the best decision we ever made. We now have an amazing home together, two amazing dogs, and one big amazing family. Ian asked me to marry him and I saw fireworks. A lot of people don't get to marry their high school sweetheart.... we are so blessed to get the chance to. Thank you, Emma & Ian
