Our story has two beginnings - the version you get depends on who you ask. In one version, we met at a Badger tailgate in the fall of 2016. Emily was in line for a beer at a bar called ChurchKey when a handsome man came up and said, "Hey, Emily!" Emily did not remember meeting this guy before, but he was cute and knew her name, so she went with it. Six years later...and we're getting married! The other beginning starts two years earlier at a college party in Madison. Mattheus was in town visiting some friends. Emily does remember meeting "a cute boy from Eau Claire" but the rest of the night is...foggy. The next day she got a Facebook friend request from a man with a weird name. He was handsome and they had mutual friends, so she accepted the request and the rest is history.

Matt popped the question over Memorial Day weekend this past summer. He took Emily to the Dane County Farmers' Market around the Capitol square in downtown Madison. A Saturday morning trip to the Farmers' Market has been a beloved ritual for Emily and Matt over the past six years. In fact, one of their first dates was at the market! Matt surprised Emily and had some of their friends and family waiting with blankets, flowers, picnic baskets and champagne. After she gladly said yes, they spent the beautiful sunny, summer day celebrating downtown.
