The story of how we met is by far one of our favorite memories. It all began after a play practice at Bixby High school, I (Emily) was with Malachi McSherry and needed a ride home. Malachi told me that I could go with him, but that his good friend Jonathan was taking him home. Sure enough, a very tall boy pulls up in his Murano. I took notice because on the front this car was a double black pin stripe on the front with a Japanese license plate. In my mind I was intrigued. From that moment when I got into the car the boy who gave me a ride had a small crush. It was a few months later, that Jonathan had the guts to ask me to the school dance when he heard that my original date made other plans. Being a sad little teen I was quick to say "yes." But, my parents on the other were apprehensive. They needed to meet this "Jonathan." So, that's when my parents set a quick meeting after church to meet Jonathan. Now, if you haven't met Jonathan, he has rosy cheeks, however during the meeting that rosy-red turned into bright red! It all worked out, we went to the dance and had a blast. It was from there, Jonathan had fallen in love. But I just gained a best friend. Jonathan pursued me for a few months and I responded by saying, "you're a sweet guy, but I just want to be friends..." Oh, Em, if you only knew. If you only knew back then that this man would be your absolute best friend, encourager, biggest fan and supporter--you might would have changed your mind. A few years later, Jonathan showed me how much he cared for me by just being a listener during a really tough time. It was that moment that I realized, girl, you need to move quick! So I did. I told him my feelings and he couldn't believe his ears. He had made peace about not dating me and now he had to decide. It was a yes, and we celebrated by watching a movie with our good friend Brook Dyson. Brook witnessed us holding hands for the first time. Now here we are. 5 years later, 2 years engaged, and off to say "I do."
