Greg and Emily went to the same schools growing up, in fact they lived in the same neighborhood for several years of their early lives. However, Greg was two years older then Emily and their paths never crossed while in school. In 2012 Emily got one of her first jobs at Hungry Howies Pizza where Greg worked too. The two of them often flirted over making pizza dough but nothing ever came of it and Emily soon left that job.
On August 8, 2014 LeBron James was welcomed back to Ohio, after leaving in 2010 to play for the Miami Heat, by a stadium full of fans at a homecoming rally in Akron. Emily and Greg just happened to be 2 of 30,000 people in attendance. Thanks to mutual friends (Kayla and Dan) Emily and Greg reconnected after 2 years. A couple weeks later Emily received a text from a friend (thanks Nikki) that she should come to Greg's house warming party for their new college house in Akron. She went... and the rest is history.
After being together for over 4 years, Greg and Emily decided it was time to start looking for a house closer to both of their jobs, they began slowly with no real commitment to buy. Emily jokingly (but not so jokingly) said that she would not purchase a house with Greg without a proposal. But by October, they found, what they hoped after a lot of love and elbow grease, would be their first house together (sans engagement). On November 2, 2019, one week after moving into their new house, Greg and Emily began raking what seemed like an endless amount of leaves to clean up the outside of the house on a gorgeous fall day. Emily suggested that they finally take a photo in front of their new home. As Gia, Greg's mom, started snapping photos, Greg got down on one knee in front of Emily. He said, "I know you wanted to be engaged before we bought our house, and I am a little bit late, but I hope you will still say 'Yes'?" Emily said, "Shut up!" and then squealed, "Yes!"
