We can’t wait to celebrate our marriage with you!

It all started in 2009 when Emily and Cole met in 6th grade at Jackson Middle School in Brooklyn Park, MN. Their friendship grew as they did from young middle-schoolers all throughout college. While they did not attend the same college, their friend group stayed in contact. When Cole joined the military, Emily and Cole wrote handwritten letters back and forth. When Cole came back from boot camp, they went shopping at MOA with the classic friend group. When stopping at Helzberg Diamonds, the lady working asked Cole if he wanted to buy “his lady something special”. Cole and Emily giggled and said, “oh, we’re just friends”. They continued writing letters back and forth. The next time Cole was home, Emily had surprised him with a get-together at TopGolf. It was a blast! The next morning, Rachelle (Cole’s mom) texted Emily, saying, “I wish you didn’t have a boyfriend”, Joey (best man) sat Emily down a few weeks later to point out the obvious. After this many years of friendship, it was hard to make the call. Finally, at the start of 2020, the day after Cole had landed back on Oahu after being home for the holidays, Emily made “the call” to Cole. With the encouragement of the Trelstad family, Emily made the first move. Through COVID-19, they spent hundreds of hours on FaceTime. It wasn’t the easiest being in a long-distance relationship, but communication was key. After two deployments, a college graduation and the start of a teaching career, they are ready to take on marriage, and are looking forward to a lifetime of love, happiness, commitment, and joy!
