Things To Do

Here are some of our favorite spots around Downtown Wilmington. If you have a little extra time, we highly recommend exploring Carolina Beach (for restaurants/shops/bars) and Wrightsville Beach (for a beach day on the sand). Another must-see sight is the Battleship, which you can spot across the Cape Fear River from downtown. Want to explore a newer Wilmington neighborhood with restaurants and bars? The Cargo District is a short uber ride away.

Wilmington Riverwalk

Wilmington Downtown Riverwalk, Wilmington, NC 28401

The Wilmington Riverwalk is a scenic, waterfront path that stretches along the Cape Fear River, offering stunning views of the water and historic downtown. The Riverwalk is a must-see highlight of the city and was Emily's daily walk (1.5 miles each way) when she lived Downtown.

Riverfront Farmers Market

110 Dock Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

Just steps from your hotel, the Riverfront Market is a lively local spot featuring farmers, artisans, live music, and tasty treats. If you're strolling through downtown on Saturday morning, it's the perfect place to browse local goods and soak up the Wilmington charm.

Concorde Espresso Bar

215 South Front Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

Located at the Front Street Inn, this spot serves some of our favorite coffee! Be sure to try Emily’s go-to order, an iced signature fleur latte (half sweet), or Brock’s favorite, the Cafe Magic. And when the evening rolls in, don’t miss out on their delicious espresso martinis!

The Basics

319 North Front Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

The Basics, located in the historic Cotton Exchange, is a downtown Wilmington favorite for Southern-inspired breakfast. This popular spot can get busy, but they take reservations—so be sure to plan ahead! The Cotton Exchange is also known for its role in TV shows like Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill, adding a touch of Hollywood history to your visit.

The Copper Penny

109 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

Copper Penny, one of Brock’s favorite lunch spots and just around the corner from his office, was even featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. With a menu full of delicious options, you can't go wrong no matter what you choose. To avoid the crowds, try visiting for an early or late lunch—or be prepared to wait!

Olivero

522 South 3rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

One of our favorite places for an upscale dinner—and where we celebrated Brock’s birthday early in our relationship! Located on the edge of downtown Wilmington, Olivero is led by chefs who were named semifinalists for the 2025 James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef: Southeast award. The restaurant offers a blend of Italian, Spanish, and New Orleans-inspired flavors, making it well worth the walk. Be sure to reserve a table in advance!

Satellite Bar and Lounge

120 Greenfield Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

Curious about the spot where Emily wowed Brock with her parallel parking skills on their first date? Head over to this local favorite in the South Front District, just a 5-minute Uber ride from downtown, and enjoy a refreshing local beer!

The Fortunate Glass

29 South Front Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

Craving a great glass of wine and some delicious small bites? Be sure to visit our favorite wine spot!

Banter

19 South 2nd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

In the mood for a cocktail? We love to grab drinks at this hidden gem, offering expertly crafted cocktails at great prices.
