Bangor Airport (BGR) is an approximate 45 minute drive from the Surry / Blue Hill area and is our recommended option for those flying in. Bonus: Our average wait time in security at BGR is one minute. :) Bar Harbor Airport (BHB) is an approximate 20 minute drive from the Surry / Blue Hill area but only services flights to and from Boston. Portland International Jetport (PWM) is an approximately 2.5 hour drive from the Surry / Blue Hill area.

Located in the center of Blue Hill, you can easily explore shops and local restaurants. Shuttle provided. Only ten rooms available. Please book directly with the inn as soon as possible.

Another quaint inn on the Blue Hill peninsula with a restaurant and bar on site. Shuttle provided. Only five rooms available. Please book as soon as possible.

Under Canvas Acadia

The closest option to the ceremony, Under Canvas offers luxury glamping within walking distance from Weymouth Point. To get to the ceremony, please walk or drive to 688 Surry Rd, less than 20 yards from the entrance to Under Canvas. Shuttles will be provided upon return from the reception.

There are plenty of cozy stays available on AirBnB. All accommodations in the link are within walking distance to the shuttle pick up and drop off points. Key points, including pick up and drop off points and the ceremony and reception locations, are marked with a heart on the map. Please consider the distance of the accommodation from the shuttle point when making your reservation.

Shuttle Information

Part of what makes this area of Maine so special is its remote nature. For the accommodations mentioned above, shuttles will be provided for wedding guests to get to the ceremony venue, from the ceremony to the reception venue, and back to designated drop off points near recommended accommodations. Shuttle Service Pick Up Schedule: Blue Hill Inn — 2:15 pm Barncastle Hotel — 2:10 pm The Lobster Pot, Ellsworth — 2:30 pm Ellsworth City Hall Plaza — 2:40 pm Guests will be ushered towards the shuttle from the ceremony venue to reception venue. Additional details on schedule is provided under Itinerary. Regardless if you are using the shuttle or not, please be ready at 688 Surry Rd by 3:15 to be shuttled the final mile to Weymouth Point. Shuttle Reception Leave Times: 10:30 pm 11:30 pm 12:30 am Shuttle Drop Off Locations: Blue Hill Inn Barncastle Hotel Under Canvas Acadia Weymouth Point / 688 Surry Rd. The Union River Lobster Pot, Ellsworth Ellsworth City Hall Plaza Please note the shuttle cannot drop off guests at their vehicle if guests are above the legal alcohol limit. While there are additional hotels in Ellsworth and AirBnB in the area, we cannot provide a shuttle service outside of the designated pick up and drop off points shown above. If you decide to stay outside of the designated pick up and drop off points, please keep in mind you will be responsible for your own transportation.

Getting Around

Uber and Lyft are unavailable. The local taxi company Manda’s Taxi, linked below, is available upon reservation. We recommend those flying in to rent a car and/or coordinate transportation with fellow friends and family to fully experience the Blue Hill peninsula and Mount Desert Island.

Although shuttles will be provided for the wedding, for those flying in, we highly recommend renting a car to drive from the airport and explore the surrounding area. Taxi options from the airport are available but limited. Hertz, Enterprise, Avis, Budget, and Turo (app) are available at Bangor International Airport (BGR). As a popular tourist destination, rental cars are limited. Please book your car early.
