In 2017, Emily and Andrew met at the beach near Wilmington, North Carolina while Emily and her family were vacationing there. Andrew was there with his military friends for a weekend away from Fort Bragg. Little did they know that their brief encounter would change their lives forever. It took another year of persistence on Andrew’s part before Emily finally agreed to give it a go and start what would become a long distance (and long term) relationship. After three years and many miles of shuttling back and forth between Kentucky and North Carolina, their relationship took a new turn. A stint in Afghanistan, a pandemic and a military ban on travel later, Emily and Andrew moved to Manhattan, Kansas in 2021. Emily began working as a travel nurse while Andrew continued his career at Fort Riley, his new military base. Just when things were beginning to gel, Andrew was deployed to Poland for nine months. Thanks to Facetime and much perseverance, their relationship survived. In December 2022, Andrew “did the deed”, took a knee, and proposed to Emily underneath the Christmas tree in Manhattan’s town square. Since then, Emily and Andrew have relocated to Fort Campbell in Clarksville, Tennessee. Emily is currently working in the Clarksville hospital as an Emergency Room Nurse while Andrew (recently dubbed Sapper Farley) continues to work for the Army as a Combat Engineer. The rest of the story…..to be continued!
