How we met

On April 4, 2017, Emily, running late as usual, dashed through the rain and dove into the backseat of her idling Uber. Once settled, her driver Walter struck up some conversation. "Where ya headed?" Walter asked. "On a date," she replied before locking eyes with him in the rearview mirror. For the duration of the trip, Emily and Walter found much to chat about including their fondness of New Jersey (where they both grew up) and their shared hatred for New York City (where they would both later reside). They found it coincidental that they had both fled Jersey to start a new life in Philly and furthermore, that they both loved advertising. Walter was an Ad Veteran and Emily was trying to "break in" as a copywriter. 11 minutes later, Walter realized that he had gotten so caught up in chatting with Emily that he had accidentally passed the destination of her date. She didn't mind. When they parted, they exchanged phone numbers as Walter vowed to "do his best" to help Emily become a copywriter. As she entered his digits into her phone, he stopped her. "Nobody calls me Walter," he confessed. Thank God, she thought. "Just call me Chip." And so, after a 12 minute car ride, many business meetings and a few that felt a lot more like dates, Chip helped Emily become a copywriter while he was introduced to a new dream of his own: to marry the woman he picked up on Ogden Street. He proposed on December 25, 2019 and she said yes.
