We're getting married!

In 2017, Emily decided to go on a trip to Europe that summer with her good friend Kristi and some friends. It also turned out that Jake had the same idea to do a trip to Europe with his friends as well. One of Kristi’s close friends, Kayleigh, who helped plan the trip, thought it would be a great idea to meet up with her sister, Caroline, and their friends in Mykonos, Greece. Well it just so happened that Jake was apart of Caroline's friend group. Thankfully, Caroline's boyfriend Connor, who is one of Jake's close friends, mentioned to Jake "Isn't it crazy that Emily is from Saratoga?". This gave Jake a perfect conversation starter. Despite Jake’s disbelief, Emily really was from Saratoga, just a town away from where Jake grew up. Fortunately for Jake, Emily left a pair of shoes behind at the hotel when she left, which Jake brought back with him. This was Jake's secret key to see her again (or perhaps Emily left them behind intentionally, we'll never know). Fast forward a year later, Jake moved back to New York City from San Francisco and the rest was history!

On their weekend getaway trip to Miami, unfortunately the weather took a sharp turn for the worse just hours before the big question was scheduled to be popped (which was supposed to be outside on a beach picnic in front of a lighthouse). The weather refused to cooperate, and after going through Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C, Jake had a small window of opportunity to proceed with Plan D. Quick shoutout to Troy, Jake’s brother and best man, who helped coordinate this last minute planning while Jake was with Emily trying not to tip his hand that he was up to something. Jake and Emily head off to dinner, but first decide to make a stop at the park to see a lighthouse on the beach. Well it turns out, that park was closed but Jake just didn’t say anything and the car drove off to a different park instead. After they arrive, Emily doesn’t quite realize when they first pull up, and instead gives Jake a few “I told you so”s when they exit the car in what appears to be a random park. When she walks around the car, she then sees a beautiful picnic set up in the middle of this empty park, and starts to realize this was coordinated and by no means random. They approach the picnic setup, and as they get to the blanket, Jake drops down on his right knee and asks Emily the most important question he’s ever asked anyone, “Emily Anne Inzana, will you marry me?”.
