Our Story

This is a story about how Mexican food and Waffle House brought two people together.

First and foremost, Chris and I met in Jr. High. We never had any classes, but somehow we knew of each other. Right after Jr. High he was shipped off to Deer Park schools while I remained in La Porte. We did not reconnect until years after graduation through social media. We became good friends and shared many stories about life, etc. until we ultimately carried on with our lives. Until the stars realigned... Years and years later we reconnected on social media and became good friends again. We spent months fostering this virtual friendship with some opportunities to meet in person but they never worked out (it was my fault...). Till one day I asked him to eat lunch at Gringos and man he loves Mexican food so he couldn't turn that down. I still remember the look on his face when I walked in. Unsurprisingly, the connection we had continued in person. We talked for hours and finally parted ways after I was lucky enough to receive the best bear hug of my life. But it doesn't end there, because that has nothing to do with Waffle House. After lunch I partook in some very low key dinner festivities and returned home early. The next morning I was craving waffles. Given the ease of how lunch went I asked Chris if he wanted waffles. Like Mexican food, Chris also likes waffles. He picked me up and we had ourselves a breakfast date. It was like we just continued from lunch. We finished eating and he drove me home where we sat in his truck in the driveway talking for at least an hour. Neither one of us wanted to leave the other - so we didn't. And it's been that way ever since.
