The summer of 2016 Ellie and Thomas’ paths crossed for the first time. Thomas was working as a line cook and Ellie was a server at Buckalew’s restaurant on Long Beach Island down the Jersey shore! Not soon after they met Thomas left the states to study abroad for six months in Europe. They stayed connected with messages, phone calls and they face-timed every chance they could get. When Thomas returned home, he asked Ellie to officially be his girlfriend! Thomas and Ellie spent quite a bit of their early years apart. It was difficult for them to be in a long-distance relationship. Looking back, it was exactly what their adventurous hearts needed. It allowed them to meet up with each other in quaint small towns every chance they could get as they completed their last two years of college. After they graduated from college Thomas and Ellie spent 17 days backpacking all around Europe. Not soon after they returned from their Europe trip Thomas joined the Navy. Upon joining the Navy Thomas went to Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI. He then moved to Pensacola, FL to attend flight school. At this time Ellie moved to Brooklyn, NY for her two-year graduate program at LIU. Not once did they question their connection, but instead embraced all the amazing times that they could see were ahead for them. Ellie and Thomas moved into their first apartment together in Norfolk, VA in 2021 and in 2022 they bought their first home in Virginia Beach! When Thomas was on deployment this past September his ship stopped in Mallorca, Spain. Ellie flew three planes to meet up with Thomas after being apart for 6 months. This is where and when Thomas asked Ellie if she wanted to spend the rest of their lives together! And here we are! May the stopping never start!
