What list of 'Things to Do in Minneapolis' would be complete without the Mall of America? The nation's largest shopping center doesn't just have every type of store imaginable but also a movie theatre, theme park, fast food, restaurants, bowling alley, and more!
Just a short walk from both of the hotel blocks (and right outside of another "Things to Do" highlight- the Stone Arch Bridge) the Mill City Museum is a unique place to visit in Minneapolis. The museum was built within the ruins of the Washburn A Mill, the flagship mill of the Washburn-Crosby Co. (later General Mills). It was the largest and most technologically advanced flour mill in the world when it was completed in 1880.
The Stone Arch Bridge is a former railroad bridge crossing the Mississippi River at Saint Anthony Falls in downtown Minneapolis. With great views of the skyline, it's a must-do for any first-timers in Minnesota! You may recognize some of these views from our engagement photos!
Another quick walk from both of the hotel blocks- If you're looking for a fun place to see a show during your time in Minneapolis, the Guthrie Theater is the place for you! During our wedding weekend "The Little Shop of Horrors" will be in town. Check out the Guthrie's website for more information on tickets.
If you don't get a picture of yourself with the Spoon and Cherry at the Walker Sculpture Garden, did you really visit Minneapolis? Admission to the sculpture garden is free and close to some of the other attractions.
What's a trip to Minneapolis without a Twins Game? Lucky for you, they will be playing at home during our wedding weekend! Minnesota Twins vs. Milwaukee Brewers on July 21 or if you're still around on Monday: Minnesota Twins vs. Philadelphia Phillies on July 22.
Minnehaha Falls is a beautiful 53-foot waterfall located just 15 minutes south of our venue. With river overlooks, limestone cliffs, and walking trails throughout, this is a great area to spend an afternoon "outside" of the city.
Minnesota isn't the Land of 10,000 Lakes for nothing. Stroll around Lake Bde Maka Ska or rent a paddleboat for a relaxing afternoon on the largest lake in Minneapolis!
There are TONS of breweries for our beer-loving friends to visit. Surly Brewing is a large brewery and its beers are now a staple in many bars and restaurants in the midwest. Fun fact: When Ellie's parents were looking for name suggestions when they got their dog, Ellie suggested naming him after her dad's favorite beer- Surly Furious!
