It wouldn't be true New England without a lighthouse! Climb over the rocks to get up close with the best lighthouse in the world (we're not biased at all ;)) and watch the waves crash onto the shore.
Lighthouse beach is an iconic landmark in Squam. At the bottom of Squam Rock Road, take the path on your right to the pasture and follow the path down to the beach. This is a great beach to set up a chair for the day, watch the boats float by and check out the Annisquam Lighthouse. On September 9, Low tide is at 1:41 PM and high tide is at 7:54 AM.
A small but gorgeous beach right next to our house. From the top of our driveway, take the grass path by the side of our neighbor's house till you see a set of stone stairs. Walk down the stairs to find Baby Beach on your right.
Perhaps the most famous Annisquam landmark, once the inspiration for Asher's closing line "Squam Rocks", Squam Rock is a historical rock at the top of Squam Rock Road (coincidence). Trek up the hill and climb the back side of the rock to get one of the best views in the village :)
Head up to the tip of the "island" to find Halibut Point, a state park with beautiful walking trails. Walk through the trails to find a stunning cliff overview!
You won't find better Mexican food in the area than at Jalapenos. We highly recommend the perfect frozen margaritas and sizzling fajitas!
We haven't been ourselves, but have heard they have the best croissant breakfast sandwiches!
A famous grub spot only 10 minutes from Squam and a great place to get a lobster roll or pick your own lobster out of their tanks at the entrance. And a lovely water view with picnic tables to soak it all in while you eat!
This is the go to grocery store in the area. Head here to find everything your heart (and stomach) desires throughout the weekend.
How lucky are we to have an award-winning farm-to-table restaurant right in our tiny village. If you can score a reservation, they have amazing seafood, pasta and mains that will leave you wanting more. No resy, try your luck walking in for a bar seat.
In case you're craving a Venti Caramel Crunch Frappe or whatever people drink...we now have a Starbucks in Gloucester!
If you're feeling adventurous beyond your normal Starbucks order and want to check out a new local coffee shop, head to Lone Gull for a latte or an iced coffee.
