We did not set up a room block or discount code with the Clarion, but it is a "no frills" spot for those who may be interested in a more economical option. You can walk from the Clarion right to our venue! You would need to take Ubers to get to the downtown area.
Travel Note
If you are traveling for an extended weekend with a group, we would suggest looking into Airbnb and VRBO. Hotels can be pretty costly in Portland during peak months (June - September) and with a group, a house may be a more economical option. You will find quite a few Airbnbs along the whole coast, and may choose to stay outside of the direct city limits. Some other areas to look into are : - Scarborough : Pine Point Beach, Higgins Beach (15 - 20 minutes from Portland) - Cape Elizabeth (10 - 15 minutes from Portland) - South Portland (5 - 10 minutes from Portland) - Old Orchard Beach (25 minutes from Portland) - Kennebunk / Kennebunkport (40 minutes from Portland) If you choose to stay outside of the city, we would suggest parking downtown and catching the shuttle bus on the afternoon of the wedding, or parking at the venue. Of course, remember to have a sober driver, or utilize the ample Ubers in the city.
Travel Note
Guest who are flying into Portland can fly into either of the following airports : - Portland International Airport (PWM) : Portland airport is just a short 10 minute drive or Uber from downtown. We would suggest trying to fly into this airport for ease of travel, but it can be pricer as it is a smaller airport and offers less flight options. - Boston Logan Airport (BOS) : Boston is 1.5 hours from Portland. You can rent a car at the airport and make the drive to Portland (we'd suggest hoping on Route 1 when you hit the NH border for scenic ocean views). Alternatively, you can hop on the Concord Coach Lines bus, which will take you directly from the Airport to the Bus Station in Portland. Tickets can be purchased on the Concord Coachlines website - reach out to us if you have any questions on this option.
