Our story begins in 2011 in Virginia Beach. Max and Elle were both in the tenth grade at First Colonial and were barely starting to get to know each other. Powder Puff football was coming up and who better than Max Buckon to help coach the sophomore class of girls who for some reason decided it was a good idea to participate? After one of the powder puff practices a group of Max and Elle's friends went out for pizza and that's when Max made his first move. He struck up a conversation about a friend's birthday party that evening with Elle. He asked if she was going and while she was invited she said she wasn't going to go. The smooth talker that we all know Max is convinced Elle to go with him to the party and the rest was history. After the party, Max decided he might like Elle more than he thought and decided to pursue her (even if she may have been a little hesitant at first). Their first official date was at Baker's Crust where Max picked her up in the Expedition which he now calls his own. The two went on many dates in borrowed cars and Max spoiled Elle all before she realized she was falling in love. The two parted ways at the end of the summer in 2014 to go to separate colleges only to move in together the following year. Elle took her basset hound Winston, packed up her life, and moved from the beach town she had grown up in to move to Baton Rouge with Max while he attended LSU. Over the years of living far from family, the two grew stronger as a couple and grew into their own little family. Over time Elle grew anxious about whether Max would "pop the question" and began wondering if the day would ever come. Then in September 2021 Max ever so casually suggested to Elle that they should utilize his hotel points to take a weekend trip to Galveston. Elle, a beach lover, was thrilled and after being given the option between two weekends chose the weekend of the 17th. Elle had absolutely no idea that Max would be proposing this trip and was in tears when she turned around and saw Max on his knee with the most beautiful ring. The Pleasure Pier with the sun almost setting created the most beautiful background for the photographer Max hired to document the proposal---a suggestion he remembered that Elle had told him at least four years before.
