We are thrilled to share the story of how we, Elizabeth and Timothy, met each other and fell in love. Our story began with a surprising call from Timothy’s brother, Gregory, who had become friends with Elizabeth during their time at Duke University. The call was unexpected for Elizabeth, but a welcomed surprise, as Gregory mentioned how his brother Timothy, lives in Seattle as well and couldn’t stop talking about how “cool” his younger brother is. Elizabeth thought that she’d reach out, so one day, she reached out to Timothy on Microsoft Teams (both of us work at Microsoft) and introduced herself. She mentioned her work at Bing Maps and how she went to school with Gregory. She suggested meeting up at Bellevue Square Park over some Chick-Fil-A, a nod to Timothy's past employment there. Timothy eagerly accepted her invitation. Little did we both know that this meeting would be the start of something extraordinary. Timothy, a bit nervous but eager to meet Elizabeth, arrived at the park and saw her approaching with Chick-Fil-A in hand. We shared stories and laughter as we got to know each other. Timothy felt a special connection and invited Elizabeth for ice cream at his favorite spot, Molly Moon's in Seattle. She graciously accepted. Over the next few months, we enjoyed countless memorable dates such as seeing the musical “Hamilton”, kayaking around the Puget Sound, exploring various brunch places, and so much more. And as we got to know each other better, our love deepened. Our faith plays a significant role in our relationship, as we regularly pray together and attend Mass together every week. It didn’t take us long to realize that our hearts were calling us towards a future together, one filled with love and commitment. As the months went by, Timothy began scheming with his sister Monica about the engagement, seeking advice on what to do, what to wear, and where to go. And after some months of planning the day and designing the ring, Timothy decided that May 31, 2023, the Feast of the Visitation, would be the perfect day to propose. After convincing Elizabeth to take the day off of work, we began the day with Mass to celebrate the Feast of the Visitation, followed by a visit to our favorite brunch place, Village Square Cafe. Then, Timothy led Elizabeth to Saint Edward’s State Park. There, he led her to a Grotto devoted to Our Lady that is a quiet, beautiful, and perfect place to ask the big question. So he led her down the path, Elizabeth just thinking we were out for a walk at the park, where Connor, Timothy’s roommate, had set up flowers and candles just like they had rehearsed. There, in the quiet afternoon on May 31, 2023, Timothy went down on one knee and, with a heart full of love, proposed to Elizabeth. She, filled with so much joy and love, responded with a resounding “Yes!” And so, our love story continues to unfold, with every day bringing new joys and adventures. We can't wait to embark on this lifelong journey together, surrounded by the love and support of our dear friends and family.
