Brendan and Elizabeth met in 2018 and became friends while working together at Native Nurseries. Elizabeth was transitioning into management while Brendan took a position on the landscape crew. They quickly realized their mutual passion for native plants and outdoor adventure was a source for a strong connection. In 2019, Brendan moved on from Native Nurseries to a seasonal position in Alaska. It didn't take but a few months before Elizabeth made the journey to visit him. When Brendan's position was over he came back to Florida and proposed to E, that if she would have him, he was respectively hers. She agreed he still had charm after workin in the Alaska Bush, and so Brendan permanently relocated back to Tallahassee. They started a life together next to the nursery with their two pups, Josie and Soldier.

In summer of 2023, Brendan and Elizabeth went on a canoe camping trip in the Canadian wilderness of Quetico Provincial Park. On the last night, right at sunset on red pine island, Brendan asked Elizabeth to marry him.
