Our Story

November 22, 2013

We met in NYC in November of 2013, just a few short months after I (Eliza - we all know Daniel didn't write this) graduated from South Carolina and made the leap of faith to move to the Big City. Right around the time we met we both had to obtain a license for our respective jobs (real estate and insurance) and we used every excuse of studying together to see each other as much as possible. If you know Daniel you know that the first 6 months were spent constantly laughing, I honestly had never met anyone who could make me laugh the way he did. Daniel's hilarious and quirky personality immediately put a smile on my face, which was THE best therapy after the big (and somewhat scary) life move I had just taken on. After those first 6 months of being “just friends”, we both came to the realization that we were crazy about each other and we officially started dating. A year later we moved into our first apartment in Brooklyn and have since built our life together here. Mostly spent exploring the city and all that there is to offer, including trying out every restaurant we can, but if its nice weather out we all know what Daniel is doing... :) We cant wait to share our amazing city with all of you on our wedding weekend!

The Proposal

November 17, 2018

One Saturday morning Daniel asked me if I wanted to go to a Brooklyn Nets game that evening because his boss had two tickets and couldn’t go. The Brooklyn Nets have been sort of a relationship milestone marker for us since we first met (we went a week before we started dating, a few days before we we moved in together, etc). I obviously realized that the Nets game was not a coincidence and that a proposal would be coming soon but never did I imagine it would be that night. We had the best time at the game and after the game was over, we hopped in an Uber to go home. When we got to our apartment, and after Daniels shaking hands could open the door, we walked into an apartment completely decorated with flowers, confetti (which I still find traces of on the floor - thanks Shannon 😉), champagne, and there was a ring box on the coffee table. Daniel proposed in the apartment and it was the most amazing moment ever! After some joyful tears were shed, Daniel said he had another surprise for me but we had to go to the roof first. We went up to our rooftop and our families were up there to celebrate! (Note- not one of my family members live in NYC, so Daniel had them fly up which was AMAZING). We then went to a bar in Williamsburg where even more of our friends were waiting to celebrate! It was the best weekend ever and easiest “yes” I have ever said!!
