How We Met

Like most of the singles in 2022, Mitchell and Elise used the wonderful world of dating apps to match with each other. They were each drawn to the pictures the other had around golf. After a few weeks of chatting, Mitchell asked Elise on a date. Well, Elise was going out of town on a trip to Nashville to live her best life, so Mitchell planned the date and waited patiently for her to come back. Mitchell, a man who likes to study people and the way they react, planned to take Elise to a Tampa Bay Lightning game for their first date in hopes to get her out of her element and test her... little did he know, she's an old pro at sports spectating. Beyond his love of hockey, he shared with Elise, how his stepdad would always take him to Taco Bell after a winning game. So, it was settled. We would go to a Lightning Game, and if they won, we would go to Taco Bell for dinner. Elise added the date to her calendar and went off to Nashville! Four days later, when Elise returned, she had made a terrible discovery that might impact their date!! While in Nashville (but probably before, since she was at Halloween Horror Nights, man this girl never stops), Elise got COVID-19. GGGAAAASSSSPPPP When Mitch received a text from Elise saying "Hey, I have some bad news, I just tested positive for COVID and my quarantine time will be up on the day of our date.", his heart sank. "Is this girl blowing me off?" thought Mitch, who was so fed up with the dating scene. Elise reassured him that she was still up to go if he felt comfortable. So, did they ever go on that date...? Well duh, silly... and here is how it went...

Our First Date

And so, First Date Day came... Elise, wanting to look the part, quickly ordered a Tampa Bay Lightning Shirt on Amazon and prayed it would fit. Little did she know she wouldn't need it, since her knight in shining Lighting gear, who pulled up in a brand-new purple horse (later named Starfire), adorned her with an autographed jersey to wear for the night, and it fit just right. Mitchell, chivalrous by nature yet cautious by experience, opened all the doors and treated Elise like the passenger princess she was born to be. During the game, Mitchell tuned into Mitch- Singing the National Anthem at the top of his lungs (always followed by a bold U-S-A, chant), exchanging colorful fan talk with the Islanders fans behind us, chanting "LETS GO BOLTS" at the top of his lungs, and downing a 25oz Michelob ULTRA. They even danced their way onto the jumbotron. And you know those Islander Fans behind us... they wanted to know Elise's take on letting her husband watch hockey all the time. Only for the couple to inform them, "Um, this is our first date". Those Islander fans were either genuinely SHOCKED they weren’t married, or great actors... we will never know. Fast forward and the Lightning WON!!! Taco Bell time, baby... Unfortunately, only the Taco Bell drive through was open at 11pm (seems early to close the inside, right?). So, they placed their order. As they drove away with Chicken Quesadillas drenched in the world’s best sauce, that's where the story takes a turn... According to Mitchell, he just got a new car today and didn’t want it to smell like Taco Bell nor did he want anyone eating in it. And remember when we called out his chivalrous nature? Yeah well, he said there is no way I am going to go into a woman's house on the 1st date. So, he dropped Elise off, and went home to enjoy his food. Well, Elise knew the night was coming to an end when Mitchell said, "I am going to drop you off to eat if that is ok, I really want to eat this food in my bed." Mildly amused, yet slightly offended, Elise went with the plan. Also, let it be known, Elise has always taken the strong position that she never invited him into my house and didn't even want him to come in to eat, but she did think they could have ate outside or in the car or something. To this day, the couple still debates if that was chivalrous or not... And just to demonstrate how much Mitchell cares about Elise's wants, the next winning game, Elise and Mitchell ate Taco Bell in the parking lot on the curb together. **SPOILER ALTER** They now eat Taco Bell inside together, happily ever after.
