How We Met

Elena's Side of the Story

Ernest is a killer parkour athlete (if you don't know what that is you should look him up on youtube), and coaches at a gym near Boston. Looking for new activities to pursue after college, I (Elena) decided to take a class in the summer of 2018 and Ernest was the coach. He really made me want to get better. After a few months of training together and hanging out, one day after a session I was sitting in the car and he came over to my window and pinched my cheek and said goodbye to me. That was the first real sign of the feels. I really was not looking for a relationship at the time, but I couldn't help the way I was starting to feel! That next week he surprised me with tickets to see one of my favorite bands, The Vaccines, (which I had only mentioned to him in passing so major props to him for remembering) and the rest is history! Ernest's Side of the Story As mentioned above, I coach at one of, if not, the best parkour gyms in Boston. Elena showed up sometime in August of 2018. What struck me was her determination to learn more and get better day by day. I've seen women come and go in adult class, but she was the only one that stuck with it, embraced that world, and wanted to get better. (Little did I know that's how she operates when she dives into something she likes). Her determination got me to also push her harder in PK which meant that we had to go out into the wild and train where parkour was created. That is not something easy as it comes with hard work and experience but having me by her side (pushing her and asking her to "Do it again" 95% of the time) was kind of challenging. And that's when it struck me, this girl must see something in me because nobody would be staying around this long with this guy and be OK. Time went by and one day we had this fantastic training afternoon and we finished up with a workout and then I walked her to her car. As we said goodbye I could sense the good vibes, but like an idiot I just started riding my longboard away. I go not 50ft and then I'm like "just turn around and say something more you imbecile". Small courage built up and I turned around (and thank god she was still there), and I asked her to drop the window and told her "good sesh" and pinched her cheek. She gave no reaction in her face but a tiny smile. As I left I thought "Yep there was no reason for that, now you just look like a creep". But all those thoughts were erased later when she texted me at the end of the night that the gesture was "sweet and caring". Your boy was back in the game, and by this point (since you're reading this) you already know that I WON THE GAME!
