The First Date - Swimming With Dolphins

October 8th, 2020

For their first date, Gage surprised Elana with a trip to Gulf World to do one of the many things she had on her bucket list: Swim with dolphins. Elana has wanted to do this since the time she watched the movie 'Aquamarine' with her mom, Katie, when she was a little girl. Gage had earned two tickets for a Dolphin Encounter while assisting/working at Gulf World with his mom. When they arrived, Gage gave Elana a tour of the place and introduced her to all of the animals, telling her about them and which ones were his favorites. They also stopped to say hello to his mom, Jennifer. After seeing all of the animals and Gage's awesome mom, the two of them went to the dolphin encounter where they both got to meet two bottlenose dolphins and swim with them! Gage and Elana will never forget how much fun they had (or the time the trainer called Elana a kid), and they can't wait to have another Royal Swim at Gulf World!

The Surprise Beach Trip - Our Engagement

August 26th, 2023

Elana's POV: Gage and I had just gotten back home from a trip to the store. I was STARVING. I was so hungry; I was kind of cranky. We were going to stop at Texas Roadhouse on the way home, but Gage insisted that we needed to go home first. We didn't have any cold stuff in our car from grocery shopping, so I wasn't exactly sure why we needed to go home. I complained A LOT (in a joking way but I still complained... I'm sorry, love). When we got home, he helped me carry in all of the bags and put away the food. Then he told me he had to ask his parents a question really quick and then we could go. His parents live right next door to us, so I knew that he wouldn't be long. I went to our bedroom and got into pajamas and began scrolling through Tik Tok. After a minute or two, I decided to call my mom, Amanda, because I was bored and hungry and needed a distraction from the buttery rolls, I would later consume. All while I was doing my thing in the bedroom, Gage left the house after giving me a quick kiss... Then after a while he came back. It was a lot faster than I had thought... Then again, I was really hungry, and time seemed to be going slower than it really was. He came in the bedroom and asked me, "why aren't you dressed yet?" I shrugged, as he tossed one of my new dresses at me. "Get dressed quickly, mom said there are turtles hatching on the beach from one of the turtle nests!" That immediately piqued my interest, so I quickly got off the phone with my mom and slipped out of my pajamas and into the dress. He rushed me the entire time I brushed my hair and slipped my flip flops on. When we left the house, he told me that his parents said we could use their gulf cart, so we got in and we took off. I started asking him where at on the beach the turtle nest was, I was hoping we weren't going to go too far because I was still thinking about Texas Roadhouse and their rolls. He told me it wasn't far from where we normally visit on the beach. He parked us in the same area we would normally park when we would take walks on the beach, and he walked with me down to the beach. I made him hold my hand and walk my speed since he walks a lot faster than I do in the sand. When we got down to the beach area, I asked him if he knew where the turtle nest was. He told me, "Just down this way, somewhere." I noticed three red dots in the distance. I thought that maybe they had blocked off the turtle nest in a different way than they normally had so I pointed the area out. He smiled at me, and we started to walk that way. When we got closer, the "red dots" became eerily familiar. They were the candles my grandma had given to us the last time we had visited her in Ocala. They were at each point of a drawn heart in the sand. Inside the heart were the words "Will You Marry Me?" I looked over at him, both in shock and in surprise when he got down on one knee. I at first thought he had fallen, so I asked him if he was okay. He laughed at me and then I looked around and I remember telling him "You hate the beach". Of course, I said yes! My best friend came out of hiding after taking a video of the exchange and then she helped us do a mini photo shoot on the beach. After we were all done at the beach, we decided to meet back up with Dexurai at our house and that we would all go out to eat together to celebrate! At Texas Roadhouse, of course. We made it to the house before Dexurai, so I decided that we should update our Facebook pages so our long-distance relatives and friends would collectively get to know about one of the happiest days of our lives. After we updated our statuses, called my dad and mom, and cleaned off the sand, we left to meet each other at Texas Roadhouse to celebrate. On the drive there, I put Taylor Swift's Lover album on shuffle via Spotify. Gage and I listened to Paper Rings first, which was both ironic and the best thing ever. I couldn't have imagined this going any other way. <3
