It's a wonder there aren't more rom-coms set in call centers. The dim lighting, cramped quarters, and dull monotony can actually be quite conducive to courtship. We know, because our relationship began at Michigan Telefund, where between classes we donned headsets and made dials to rustle up donations for the Maize and Blue. During those long shifts, we had plenty of time to get to know each other and find absurd ways to make each other laugh. Pretty soon, our work friendship outgrew its cubicle, and we started dating. From 3-cups-of-coffee breakfasts at Frank's to late-night double features at the Michigan Theater, we experienced Ann Arbor's endless delights together. Though graduation forced us to say goodbye to the leafy town where we fell in love, it didn't drive us apart. Our relationship has only deepened despite the physical distance that has sometimes separated us, but now we're ready for our paths to converge for good. What better place is there for that to happen than where it all started?
We became engaged in July during a long-anticipated trip to Ireland. After a few exciting days in Dublin, we left the capital city behind and made for the County Cork countryside. Our destination: a charming bed & breakfast named Ballymaloe, nestled between some of the verdant fields and forests that give the Emerald Isle its name. There we enjoyed a spectacular meal, made with fresh ingredients sourced from the neighboring farms. As we sat together in the dining room, savoring the food and enjoying each other's company while a gentle rain fell outside, I felt moved to ask Caroline what had been on my mind and in my heart for a long time. Fortunately, she shared my feelings, so we both said "Sláinte!" over champagne as we happily imagined our future together.
